Squeaky Gate offers our learners an alternative to mainstream college by providing part-time courses in the community. We work in small groups with experienced supportive staff who are trained to understand some of the problems our students face. Learning is creative and course content is collaboratively designed around the interests of group members. Our courses allow individuals to work at their own pace, building up credits towards a qualification. We aim to remove barriers from learning, for example, if reading and writing are a problem, students can evidence their learning using video, audio and online tools. We welcome students throughout the academic year.
For all learners joining our courses we agree a set of individual learning objectives according to the Recognition and Recording of Progress and Achievement (RARPA) approach. This allows everyone to be working towards realistic and achievable targets. All of our courses can, however, lead to a nationally recognised qualification awarded by the National Open College Network. We offer the qualification in Progression at Levels one, two and three, in stages of Award, Certificate and Diploma. Learners can build up credits over weeks, months and years, allowing them to work at their own level and pace.
We currently offer our workshops in London, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Birmingham.
Contact us if there is a workshop you would like to join.
